Route 66 već desetljećima ne postoji u cjelokupnoj dužini. Novije autoceste (Interstate) sagrađene su na mjesto starog puta (Route-a) i samo na nekim mjestima se mogu naći kraće dionice izvorne ceste.

Nakon Barstow-a po prvi puta vozim na pravi Route 66. Doživljaj je sjajan. Stara, grbava i raspucana cesta. Nigdje nikoga. Ni na cesti ni u okolici. Čudan neki mir.

Since there are only tidbits of the original Route 66 left, I’ll try to take them whenever possible. My first opportunity was just after Barstow, CA.

There is very calming atmosphere around it. I went for many many miles without seeing a single other car, yet alone people and houses on the side. The few structures that are left have apparently been abandoned years ago.
